LAWRENCE BOUCHARD
DIRECTOR & EDITOR

IMG_3181.PNG

My role as director was to keep the project running and make sure everyone knew what they were doing. I worked closely with Matt and Jemma in pre production to begin to turn the script into the final film. I planned the shots for each scene and tried my best to get the best performance out of our wonderful actors! As editor, I had to transform our footage into a fast paced, exciting film whilst portraying the narrative in an understandable way. Our style of film allowed for a lot of creative freedom in the edit.

JEMMA TAYLOR

PRODUCER

As Producer, I worked closely with the Director and Screenwriter in order to understand what they envisioned for Swindler’s Ring and work out how to realistically execute this. After distributing casting calls and watching various auditions, I came to a decision on which actors had the ability to portray the unique characters (with help from the crew). Following on from this, I contacted multiple local businesses and booked in the locations. I then used an availability schedule to formulate a finalised production schedule alongside call sheets which were distributed out prior to filming. I also helped out in other areas, such as the costume design, and acted as a runner throughout the filming (alongside being an extra in certain scenes and the dealer during the poker scene)

KIAN WOODWARD
SOUND

I am the sound producer for Swindlers Ring, my role in the production was to create clear audio for you, the viewer. I made diligent design and executed the sound effects, ambient noise, dialogue, and music to enhance the audience's immersion and emotional engagement. Collaborating closely with the director and post-production team, I ensured that every sound element aligned seamlessly with the narrative, enhancing its impact and coherence. My help with the sound editing helps create a new effect on the film, which creates a new experience for the viewers even after the credits have started rolling.

IZZY TAYLOR

COSTUME

My role as a costume designer in Swindlers Ring meant that I had the opportunity to further reflect each character’s personality through their wardrobe. I established a brief outline of different costume options for each character using photos of clothing online as inspiration for the group. I took it upon myself to research the costumes of the crime/‘gangster’ genre, and drew imagination from classics such as Fight Club (Fincher, 2000) and The Gentlemen (Ritchie, 2019). I also researched ‘The Costume Designer’s Toolkit’ by Holly Poe Durbin to gain a deeper understanding of the importance of costume. She describes that the costume designers job is to ‘create appropriate costumes to define individual characters’ (p.4), a notion I carried throughout my practice.

LOUIS AUBINET
CINEMATOGRAPHY

In my role as cinematographer for "Swindler's Ring," I developed the storyline visually and turned the director's concept into visually striking shots. I enhanced the storytelling experience by adding atmosphere and meaning to each scene with careful lighting, framing, and camera movement. my role was also to be able to work along and achieve the shot the director wanted for the film, whilst heavily imputing on visual desires for the film. The website gives an insight into the progression of achieving the film's distinct style.
